Privacy
Short version: MacToilet runs on your Mac. It has no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and it never reads, uploads or deletes your files.
What stays on your Mac
- Accessibility. MacToilet reads where the Trash sits in your Dock and where your pointer is while you drag a file, so the toilet can cover the Trash and open its lid. This never leaves your Mac.
- The Trash. It notices when items are added to, put back from, or emptied from the Trash (to play the flush and show the paper roll). It doesn't open or read those files, and it never moves or deletes them.
- Settings and a diagnostic log are stored in your user Library. They are not sent anywhere.
What is sent, and when
- Buying and your license. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record, under their privacy policy. The app sends your license key to Dodo to activate it, and re-checks it about once a week. The device name sent is a generic “MacToilet on Mac”.
- Feedback. Only when you press Send in the app's feedback form: the fields you see (message, optional email, a post link for shoutout claims), the app version, and — if you leave it ticked — your macOS version. It's delivered to the MacToilet team through our server (Cloudflare) to a private Discord channel. Network addresses are used only for short-lived spam protection and are not stored.
- Updates, downloads and usage counts. When MacToilet checks for updates or you download it, our server counts the request (app version and country). The app also sends a few anonymous counters — for example “finished setup” or “opened the shop” — containing only the event name and the app version. No identifiers, no cookies, nothing about you or your files. These counts tell us roughly how many people use MacToilet.
Your choices
You can turn off the Dock toilet, Open at login, and the macOS-version line in feedback at any time. Uninstall… in the app removes its settings, login item and log (and frees your license for another Mac); then drag MacToilet to the Trash.
